Why Vote No on Question 7.

Four Key Concerns

1. House Lots Are Already Small

Most people renting and owning already live on lots averaging 8,000 square feet. A 5,000 -square-foot lot would leave no yard and no parking. Most people want less crowding, less density.

2. More Cars on the Street

A house with no off-street parking means even more cars parked on the street!

3. Housing Costs and Density

If these tiny lots (50 ft. by 100 ft.) were allowed, then houses would be just as expensive with no yards and no parking. That does not solve any problem and creates high density and more cars on the street.

4. A better solution exists.

The way to encourage more housing units to be built is for the MBTA and Mass. DOT to build more commuter rail and subway stations. Then developers (under the MBTA Communities Act) can build multi-unit housing adjacent to the stations, with off-street parking, and this will not result in more cars parked on the streets.
